Film - Judy
Saturday, 12th October 2019

Meet 3pm ish in time for the 3:30pm screening of this film capturing the waning days of the beloved performer Judy Garland. Adapted from Peter Quilter's stage play, Renée Zellweger gives an outstanding, compassionate, powerful and moving performance of the star nearing the end of her rainbow, for which she is rumoured to be nominated for an Oscar.

Please let me know if you are thinking of coming so we can hold on if you are held up getting there. Given the early screening time, we could go for a meal together after the performance.
Hope to see there.

Synopsis
In the winter of 1968 Hollywood legend Judy Garland arrives in Swinging London to perform a five-week, sold-out run in the West End. 30 years on from her iconic breakthrough role in The Wizard of Oz, with a litany of ex-husbands, money problems and personal demons, Judy is far removed from the fresh-faced young Dorothy that audiences fell in love with the world over. If her spirits have dimmed, the voice remains though and once Judy finds herself under the lights of the stage the old magic flickers back to life...
Featuring some of her best songs, the film celebrates the voice, capacity for love and sheer pizazz of "the world's greatest entertainer".
