New Venue Chosen for Group Meetings

A new venue has been selected for meetings of the Leicester Local YHA group, as a result of a ballot of all members, conducted in the Summer of 2003. A total of 56 ballot papers were received, giving the following results:

Choice of Venue

Members were offered the choice of two pubs: the Local Hero, situated at Freemens Common near the Odeon Cinema, and the High Cross, situated in the City Centre on the corner of High Street and Highcross Street.

Pie chart indicating the votes cast
Local Hero     35  63%
High Cross 18 32%
Abstained 3 5%

The result is a clear win for the Local Hero, by a margin of two to one.

Change of Time

Several members have expressed concern to the committee on the late time at which the weekly meeting takes place. Often it doesn't get going until after 9:30pm, which causes a problem for people with early starts on the following morning. Consequently, group members were asked whether they wanted to meet at an earlier time - 8:00pm:

Yes   36  63%
No 4 7%
Abstained   16 30%

There was overwhelming support for the earlier time, by a margin of nine to one in those members who expressed a preference.
